Please fill out the following form with your restoration/maintenance knowledge, experience, skill and interest.  While the need is greater for people with expertise in specific skills, there will be instances where many hands make light work and those less skilled may fully participate.

Along with becoming a hands-on volunteer restorer, you must come the understanding of what this particular skilled work entails, including the expectations and dangers.  Depending on the project, you may have to supply you own gloves, goggles, respirator or other tools.  You may be exposed to poisonous chemicals such as pesticides, lead paint, industrial paint strippers, or solvents.  You may be using hand and power tools, which are dangerous if not handled properly.

These precautions are not meant to scare you, but rather to prepare you for the responsibility involved.  Volunteer restoration projects at the site are serious undertakings.  Projects are expected to be fully and satisfactorily completed with no repercussions.  Corrections/repairs necessary when a project is not completed satisfactorily will end up costing the Museum money, staff time and material needed for other, larger restoration projects.
