Visitor Information

  • General Admission grants you access to enjoy the Heritage Square grounds. You can walk, hike, and explore – see the historic buildings, have a picnic on the lawn, bring your leashed pup, browse the museum shop, and visit the garden.

  • Interior Tours allow you to go inside the historic buildings. (Self-guided interior tours are not permitted.) Only service dogs are allowed on the Interior Tour.

Many of the buildings are only open to guided tours, you cannot go inside on your own.

Accessibility

Heritage Square Museum welcomes visitors who use mobility aids such as wheelchairs.

However, travel over long stretches of decomposed granite is necessary to access all the structures on the property. In addition, only three buildings (Perry House, Palms Depot, and Colonial Drugstore) have ramps; all other structures on the tour have stairs.

If you have any questions, please call us at (323) 222-3319.

A Fascinating Piece of Los Angeles History

Since 1969, Heritage Square has acquired and begun restoration on eight historically significant buildings from around Los Angeles. The buildings were moved to the museum to avoid being torn down, and now play an important role in teaching and understanding the history of Southern California.

Fun for All Ages

On weekends, our tours take visitors on an exploration of Southern California history, architecture and culture as interpreted through our historic buildings.

Throughout the year, we host events for our community to come and enjoy the grounds.

Many of our events have become annual traditions for families – such as our Outdoor Holiday Movie Series, and our famed multi-week Halloween celebration – Little Women Ballet, Spooky Swap Meet and Los Angeles Downtown Rep Theatre.
