“In the Good ‘Ol Summertime”

July 29, 2011 - September 24, 2011

During this special joint exhibition, visitors will have a chance to see a large display of historic summer outfits from the 1850s through the 1950s.  Included in the exhibit are summer wear from the Civil War Era, the early to the late Victorian Era, the Edwardian Era, and the sleek designs of the 1930s, plus uniforms from World War II.  Located in the Perry Gallery, the exhibit will also showcase historic swimwear for the whole family. Collaborating with individual clothing collectors and our friends at Fort MacArthur Museum in San Pedro, “In the Good Ol’ Summertime” will be open every weekend from the end of July through September 25 from 12 to 4 p.m.  Due to the frailty of the pieces, photography is not allowed.
