Downtown Repertory Theatre Company Presents…

“The Assassination of Edgar Allan Poe”

Friday July 19, Saturday July 20 and Sunday July 21

Selected dates, Friday, June 7 to August 18, 2019

7:30-10.00 PM

Before his body had grown cold, they went to work.

Stealing his words, calling him a madman, claiming to have been his secret lovers or bosom friends…Selling lockets of his hair…

When they’d gnawed the last few dollars off his body, they tried to bury what remained: his life, his work, the total of his being. Put it all in a coffin and nailed it shut.  But they forgot that he was Edgar Allan Poe–In the black of night, with none to witness, the thing they tried to bury, clawed its way back out, fingernails bleeding, and disappeared into the dark.

Explore the strange and tragic life of Edgar Allan Poe as it unfolds in and around the Victorian mansions of Heritage Square Museum. Choose which characters and story lines to follow as you disappear into the tortured life and mysterious death of literature’s Master of the Macabre.

General admission tickets are $35 per person

A portion of the proceeds goes to Heritage Square Museum.
